The October Homecoming event was memorable for those attending and provided a solid base to make plans for our upcoming Get Back! 40th reunion. The usual crowd of locals attended this year but there were a few non-regulars who made the scene, such as Arthur Fergenson with Shirley, Bob Garman, Nick Perencevich, Steve Cline and Steve Barrett, all of whom were led by our president Dud Kay with Jill. There were 27 attendees and the main topic was preparation for our June return to the College. The class Web site has many articles about plans for the gathering as well as a list of the 121 of us who have signed up as of October. Early registration should assure you a room in the best air-conditioned dorms on campus so you will be close to the events, activities and entertainment being planned. Check the Web site, contact any of the officers or reunion committee members and commit to get back!

Among the topics discussed in the class meeting were succession plans for our officers. All the offices are open for new participants and any of you who want to serve the class in some capacity should contact one of the officers now. You will see only two more of these columns by June 15 so now is the time to express your interest. Paul Tuhus was one of two candidates who stepped up to run for class representative to the Alumni Council and he was elected by the executive committee during the meeting.

There have been other gatherings besides Homecoming. David Kinsey hosted the third annual Foley House mini-reunion during the Princeton game, which drew the likes of Ned Symes, the aforementioned Arthur Fergenson, Peter Elias, Geri Silk A'69, Dick Bourgeois, Rick Newbold and George Stauffer. George gave a game day seminar at Rutgers on "Great American Football Songs" before joining the mini-reunion. He is dean and professor of Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers. I recently received a book AboutBach that George edited with two other music scholars. He is known for his scholarship on the music of the Baroque era, particularly the life and works of J.S. Bach, and he has written and edited several books, including The Worldof Baroque Music: New Perspectives.

A brief note from Paul Jerde reports he is traveling a lot, having returned from China last November then having promptly departed for Saudi Arabia. He has a travel schedule similar to Bruce Hamilton's and both seem to be entrepreneurs with worldwide demand for their talents. Paul says his youngest is a few months from college graduation and his oldest two are married and have given him and Marilyn one grandchild. If he can get over the denial of being 40 years out of school, Paul will try to attend the reunion.

Jon Hanshus writes from the subtropics that he and Robert "Bamboo" Gandy are planning to meet in Hanover in June and expect a lot of fellow road-trippers will get back to join them.
