Greetings! I hope this finds you in the midst of summer plans with family and enjoying what we hope will be favorable weather. You're reading this in mid-June, but I'm writing this in mid-April, winding down my post-surgical recovery. Thanks for the thoughts and e-mails as I've worked my way through this. I had gastrointestinal surgery at Duke on March 12. (Gordie Nye, if you remember your prediction, you were correct!) After the surgery I ran into complications and was readmitted through the ER, and while in the ERI was ably cared for by Dr. Sarah Stahmer '79, emergency medicine program director. I'm sure I would have received good care anyway, but her extra attention certainly didn't hurt. I'm back on the mend now and should have been back at work for close to a month by the time y'all read this.
Jody Karp and Dave Magnus' son is headed off to Hanover to be a freshman in the fall of 2008. Any other offspring of classmates headed that way?
Wendy Simila Snickenberger was in North Carolina last weekend to watch her son Alex compete in the ACC golf championship for Boston College. My wife and I got to meet briefly with Wendy and her daughter Sally here in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, as they looked at a few area schools. Wendy's other son Mark is at Hamilton College, playing football for Steve Stetson.
Sorry for the dearth of news. Wish I had more, but I write what I receive.
I'm sorry to relate the passing of Charles R. Hawker on January 29. Our condolences go out to his family.
