Congratulations to BlaineMiller Jr. and his wife, Harriet (Wellesley '34), who celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary in Sacramento, California, on May 8, according to daughter Susan Reid. "At the party given by the family, with his typical dry wit Blaine told the assembled throng the details of their first meeting at spring house parties in the spring of 1931," writes Susan. "Essentially, they ditched their respective dates, stayed up most of the night and the rest is history.

"Dartmouth, and in particular his last two years living with his buddies at 1 Downing Road, has always been near and dearto Blaine's heart. He started a great Dartmouth tradition, with son Blaine 111 '57, granddaughter Peggy ReidTu'98 and Peggy's husband, Matt Thorp '94.

"Academics are rarely the focus of Blaine's fond memories of Dartmouth, but the good times are. A great dancer with a clever wit, he loves to tell of the silent movies produced and directed by his classmate at 1 Downing, Collier Young (later the creator of the TV series Ironsides), and filmed on the Downing Street lawn. One featured Blaine as a great runner who won the race, notwithstanding evil men who would thwart him, and the heart of a beautiful girl, (played by a classmate in drag). Blaine has preserved the footage!

"Blaine made his career running the Excelsior Laundry, a family laundry and dry cleaning business in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he had grown up. He retired at age 77 and, with the encouragement of the family (many ofwhom had moved west), he and Harriet moved to a better climate in Sacramento. Now aged 98 and 95, this miraculous couple live independently without snow or humidity where they not only keep close track of Tiger Woods' careerbut, more importantly, thedaily news of the lives of their three children, nine grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
