Winter in New England? It's December 28 and a balmy 59 degrees— go figure!
I am still reliving those wonderful few days at the 70th reunion—I'm sitting with Fred Hollingworth and his son Steve reliving Fred's ending what I believe was the Yale jinx (if I'm wrong, I'm sure you will tell me). And talking about family and friends. It seems, after much discussion, that the daughters of Gene Waggaman and George Porter met many years ago during a reunion—isn't it grand!
I am sad to tell of the passing of four classmates: Enzo Bongiovanni, John Stein, Ed Grace and a very dear friend, George Kingsbury. Ed and I spoke several times prior to the reunion and it was with a much determined "I want to be there" that he hoped to join us—unfortunately, he was unable to do so. George, as you may know, lived in Keene, New Hampshire, and right up until the Saturday morning of the reunion planned to be with us. I spoke to George on the telephone from the Inn—he would not be able to attend as his dear wife, Midge, was not well. If there ever was an individual who epitomized the experience of Dartmouth it was George—he was truly a gentleman of Dartmouth. I have fond memories I cherish of being with George and Midge and, like all the gentlemen of the class of 1938, I shall miss him terribly. Our deepest sympathy to all of their families.
I have no other news to write, but I would love to receive some. You will be receiving this after the winter, so stay healthy and warm and know I am thinking of you.
