Greetings! I hope you and your families enjoyed the holidays and everyone is safe and sound. From the looks of things here in North Carolina, it may be shaping up to be a wet and snowy winter. We've been cooler than normal here, and in talking with Todd Morris in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, just before Christmas, they were on the verge of setting a record for snowfall in Milwaukee in December. As of December 24 they were at 104 inches and it was still snowing. For those of you who are in ski country, I hope your winter is shaping up to your greatest expectations. For those of us below the Mason-Dixon, lets keep the snow up where the highway departments know how to handle it.
Kip Hall sent an e-mail indicating that he has moved and is nowworking in N.Y.C. Best of luck with the move. In checking Facebook I noticed that Gordie Nye had posted a picture of himself and Dave Gillin getting together for a bike ride in Hermosa Beach, California. Oy, and watch out for the seagulls! From the sounds of the postings, everyone's enjoying spending time with the family over the holidays.
Many thanks to J.T. Knight, our alumni councilor. J.T. has done a terrific job of communicating with our class and the other classes he represents. He's given us great feedback as to what's going on at the Alumni Council level and, probably more importantly, he's made himself accessible so we, as alumni, are sure we have a voice on the council. Thanks to J.T. and thanks to you classmates who have given him feedback. The Alumni Council, the board of trustees and the College have their work cut out for them as they negotiate the minefield presented by the economy as we go forward into 2009 and beyond.
On a sad note, I have to pass along news that we have lost two classmates recently. The obituary of John Douglas Tanner appears in this issue of DAM. Marion McCoy Mustard passed away just before Christmas. Peter Brooks sent me an e-mail that he had seen her obituaiy in The Boston Globe. An obituary will appear in a later issue of DAM. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of both classmates.
Best wishes to you and your families.
