Greetings '91s. It is with sadness that I open another column with unfortunate news: Our friend and classmate Jonathan Arms died unexpectedly at his home in Providence, Rhode Island, on October 26, 2008. A detailed remembrance of Jon appears in the obituary section but I include the following, submitted by Jon's friend Alex Glovsky. "My most enduring image is of Jon walking into our dorm room on the first day of freshman year. With his goofy flat-top and absolutely irrepressible smile, 'Boz' was the type of guy you hoped for as a college roommate: friendly, fun, outgoing, supportive. Our year in Gile was a whirlwind of joy and Jon's energy was at the center. He found good in everyone and never compromised who he was despite the pressures to do so. I recall numerous occasions over our years together where his counsel and character helped me grow to be a better person. I do and will miss him very much." I trust I speak for all '91s in sending heartfelt condolences to Jons family.

On a happier note, may I please give thanks to Facebook?! At first I shunned this gizmo as a weird networking device designed for teenagers but it is an alumni secretary's dream! Almost every detail below was retrieved from Facebook...so, as you go about setting up a page be aware that I will gather you in my grasp. Here is who and what I have collected so far:

Jordy Green lives in Brooklyn and is married to Mandy Davidson (she, like Jordy, grewup in Hanover). Jordy manages the New York office of a large family investment office based in Melbourne. When not juggling financial madness Jordy and Mandy spend their time with sons Duncan (4) and Reeve (1 1/2). Jordy reports that the boys get along most of the time, except for the frequent disagreements about who started playing with the toy first. (Weird...that never happens in my house.)

Jon Murchison is now juggling two! He and wife Julie proudly welcomed Nola Spence on November 11. Nola joins brother Henry (3) and Yuba the dog (who, I am guessing, is fast falling down the priority chain). Nola, apparently, has displayed amazing proficiency at eating (a lot) and sleeping (regrettably, just a little). Jon was lucky enough to sneak off to Hanover in December for alumni meetings and a semi-annual gathering at Murphy's that included Hal Bourne, Daniel Bryant, Kip Oberting and John Pepper.

Dr. John Eggleston, mom Malena and brother Gabriel welcomed baby Liam Enzo in August. Living in Santa Clara, California, John practices plastic surgery, microsurgery and orthopedic upper extremity surgery. Oh my. Big shoes to fill, boys!

Great things happening for Zia Daniell Wigder and her family in N.Y.C. Baby Alexandra recently joined brother Ari (7) and sister Talia (5). Zia, following maternity leave, will return to her post as a Web globalization analyst at Forrester Research, covering consumer Internet trends outside the United States.

Happy word from Marcie Smith Boyle, now super mama of three: Meredith (2), Elaina (6) and Carter (9). With Merediths arrival Marcie opted to leave Clorox (after 10 years) for the stay-at-home gig and reports that she is really enjoying being home.

And it is No. 3 for Joe and Liz Appel Whitworth! They welcomed Henry Mills Whitworth on December 12. Liz reports from Portland, Oregon, that everyone is doing great, especially big sisters Ellie and Anna, who are thrilled to have doting responsibilities.

Finally, news from Vail, Colorado-based urologist Wil Brant, now daddy to mighty Max, who was born inAugust. Wil loves fatherhood more than he could ever have imagined...but has yet to realize how Max will impact his ski schedule. Wil is also enjoying Vail but is considering a move to Salt Lake, Denver or Boston.

All the best in 2009 everyone—and please keep the news coming.
