Dartmouth clubs and groups started off a great new year with several in-person gatherings.
Rick Paul ’75, president of the Dartmouth Club of Detroit, reported that the club celebrated Winter Carnival weekend at its inaugural luncheon in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Alums attending included Rick, Gus Buchtel ’64, Gary Johnson ’73, Bruno Giordani ’75, Kevin Griffin ’88, David Hammond ’89, Kristen Johnson ’94, Laura Hayden ’98, Catherine Asher ’10, and Danielle Coleman ’12. The group convened at a local brewery, HopCat, known for its food and wide selection of local brews. It was fun and engaging, with a range of alums from all classes in attendance. It was a great way to start the year and share Dartmouth camaraderie!
In early November 2022 the Dartmouth Club of Hawaii held its annual gathering and new officers and chairs election in Honolulu, Hawaii. About 40 alumni, students, parents, and friends attended the potluck on Oahu from neighbor islands Kauai, Maui, and Hawaii Island, online from around the state, and all the way from beloved Hanover. The club will be led going forward by Kelii Opulauoho ’96, Lani Hubbard ’97, Joey Furlett ’12, Keith Schuricht ’05, Th’06, Daniel Tom ’68, Eddie Kim ’91, Zoe Leonard ’19, Jacquelyn Chappel ’96, Sophia Domingo ’20, Howard Hodel ’75, and Cecily Kaya Boulware ’09. The club is happy to have such an engaged alumni community. Kicking off the new year, the new club leadership will focus on identifying a three-year strategic plan, with goals and milestones as the first priority. Preliminary findings from a membership survey at the time of the election show that members want more time to connect with each other (at least monthly) and from all islands, opportunitiesto volunteertogetherto focus on the land and the community, and expand the pipeline from Hawaii to Hanover and back home in Hawaii again after Dartmouth.
