More than 40 people were in attendance, with a dozen or more admitted students. Most of them had committed; one or two were still deciding. The new students and their families enjoyed the venue. There were refreshments and a live animal talk featuring a snake and a speedy turtle. David Stephens ’75, the club’s longstanding interview coordinator, stated: “I was surprised by the number of people who attended. These were all strangers who now had something in common, and the camaraderie among the teenagers and the parents was astounding.” Eric Freeman ’88 gave the students words of wisdom about making the most oftheir time in Hanover. Harry Holt, Tu’91, told them to lean into the servant leadership aspect of the Dartmouth experience. Eric, the representative of Dartmouth who attended the event, surprised the students with wonderful quotes from their files and from recommendations submitted on their behalf. The comments point to the high quality ofthe new Dartmouth students.
