A shorter note this time around, but nonetheless newsworthy. I hear from David Kepes in San Antonio, Texas, news of his good friend, Frank Gallo. David writes, “I am pleased to announce that my friend, roommate, compadre, and daughter’s godfather, Frank Gallo has been given a lifetime achievement award by the Washington state soccer association for his contributions at various levels. Frank played professionallyforthe Seattle Sounders, coached at the University of Puget Sound and the University of Washington men’s team, and was active in youth soccer for many years as well as playing club soccerwell beyond his 50s in the greater Seattle area. Frank is part ofthe management team ofthe Seattle Sounders football club, which has won several MajorLeague Soccer championships during that time. Frank was a captain of our class’ undefeated freshman soccer team and was an All-Ivy player.”
According to Dave, Frank’s greatest success has been found with his wife, Sue, in enjoying their grandchildren in Washington and Oregon.
Ina separate flash of nostalgia, I was reminded through a post by Robbin Derry of our photographer classmate, Stu Bratesman. Stu captured many images from our times together and, notably, was the primary photographer to the George McGovern campaign. He captured some iconic shots of Sen. McGovern with Jesse Jackson, who passed earlier this year, which prompted Robbin’s post. I did some additional internet surfing and found this website, https://mcgoverncelebration.com/ photos, where you can find some photos by Stuart. Check it out: There are some truly great pictures that will turn back the clock for all of us—regardless of your politics!
