Dr. Ernest Fox Nichols formerly president of Dartmouth College and more recently professor of physics at Yale University, has taken up his duties with the General Electric Company at Cleveland. With the title of director of pure science he has immediate supervision of the investigations being carried on by a new department in the company's Nela Research Laboratories which has been created to deal with the wholly theoretical side of those sciences on which the art of lighting has its foundation.
