Dr. Robert O. Blood of Concord was elected commander of the state department of the American Legion at the annual convention at the Weirs, August 24, after a close and somewhat sensational contest. Dr. Blood has a fine military record, and has been decorated with' the Croix de Guerre and the Distinguished Service Cross. He went overseas with a hospital unit of the infantry branch of the service, and was several times cited for specially meritorious service in action. He took part in the affairs of St. Mihiel and the Argonne, as well as others of less prominence.
