May 1921 Charles E. Quimby

The Butte (Montana) Daily Post for March 4 contains mention of the retirement of Clinton H. Moore from the position as stamp clerk in the local internal revenue office, and speaks at length of his history and characteristics. It appears that he went to Montana in 1877, and settled at Deer Lodge, where he founded the College of Montana, serving as its head for two years. He then went to Boise, Idaho, taking the position of superintendent of schools. In 1881 he returned to Montana, and May 1, 1891, was appointed deputy collector of internal revenue for Montana, Utah, and Idaho. He has been interested in gold mining, and is an active member of the Montana Society of Engineers. In the territorial days of Montana he served a term in the legislature. He has always been a loyal and enthusiastic Dartmouth man, and is now just completing his second term as member of the Alumni Council.
