Displaying good team work and brilliant individual playing, the Dartmouth soccer team opened its season at Swarthmore October 12. with a 1-0 victory over the Swarthmore eleven. Captain Hecht, playing the center forward position, was outstanding among the Green players, especially in the offensive department of the game. Breaking through the Swarthmore defense in a brilliant manner, he scored the winning tally. Thayer, back on the Green team after a year's absence due to eligibility regulations, played his right halfback position commendably, setting up an. almost impenetrable defence. Countryman covered the goal in veteran style.
Princeton 3 — Dartmouth 0
On October 13 the Dartmouth team lost to Princeton at Princeton by a score of 3 to 0.
The Tiger team displayed excellent soccer, and was strong both on offense and defense. Captain Cooper, Smart and Pitrachat formed an impressive trio on offense, each registering one boot through the uprights. Of the Dartmouth eleven Captain Hecht was the outstanding player. Thayer and Weeks also played well. Picken, who has never played before or even practiced at the goal position, stepped into the vacancy at goal caused by an injury to Countryman's ankle, and handled the assignment splendidly through the entire game.
