Though we can't prove it we think '08 had the largest representation in Hanover at the 1924 Commencement of any alumni class not holding a reunion. We could have made a fair showing in the parade to the ball game, but instead most of the '08 crowd paraded to Lebanon after the game and had dinner together. Some of the crowd were in Hanover only a few hours; the Gleasons and McCartys were in town for the whole show; and Ev Marsh with his charming wife and two husky kids spent a week in Hanover as part of their vacation motor trip from Evanston to New England. There were 27 in the 'OB list: Art and Pauline O'Shea, Perc and Mabel Gleason. Pete and Alice McCarty, Bob and Mary Marsden, Larry Symmes, Ben Sanborn with the Missus and Benjamin Sanborn the Sixth, Ev. and Violet Marsh, George and Virginia Marsh, Larry Treadway with Mrs. Tread and two boys, Art Rotch, Ike and Betty Locke, Hal Hobart, John Hinman and his two boys.
Tread, who visited the Californians of 'OB early in the spring, is good for a whole evening's lecture on the trials, fortunes, and successes of the boys on the Pacific Coast. Apparently they are all going fine now, hitting on all six; but there have been some blowouts and real western stuff that ought to be screened and shown at the 20th reunion.
Ike Locke is putting in the summer on a farm near Bellows Falls. Letters addressed to Townshend. Vt., will reach him. He says he has put in many hours fishing and has caught a lot, and some day hopes to get one big enough to clear the law so he can keep it and have it for supper.
Art O'Shea came up for Commencement in a very hanlurious new Paige sedan, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Fletcher Hale '05 Art is a golf enthusiast. He carries about 21 different clubs. He has just been elected director and member of the executive committee of the Laconia Chamber of Commerce
Art Lewis would have attended the Commencement parties if he hadn't gotten so keen about track sports. He was watching the Olympic finals at the stadium. Art shows plenty of speed himself, and likes to see others do it in 9 3-5.
Ben Sanborn sat in the lap, and patted the face, of every 'OB wife in Hanover in June, thereby arousing the envy of the less favored. It was Ben the Sixth, whose laugh is as hearty, if not as boisterous as his illustrious dad's.
Art Rotch said he was up in Hanover in June because he wanted to look over a camp where he is sending his boy this summer, which is up this way. Most any excuse works for a bird who has the habit of coming back every June. Rosy Hinman worked the excuse of having to see a man in White River on business.
Tat Badger has been a widower this spring. Alice has been looking 'em over in Paris, chaperoned by Tat's father.
Ev Marsh is an 8-handicap man in the Chicago district, and shoots 80 or better. George Butterfield is pretty good at the game too, in Fitchburg.
Gus Riley is reported as located in Portland, Oregon, 215 Lumberman's Building, where he is in the bond business. He has several years of interesting work in railroad contracting in the western states and Cuba.
