GALLAGHER SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED FOR 1925-1926

The Morrill Allen Gallagher Memorial Scholarships for the present academic year have been awarded to Andrew James Oberlander '26, of Everett, Mass., and John Howe Fuqua '27, of Chicago, I11.

These scholarships of $600each are based on a gift of $255,000 made by Mrs. Kate M. Morse of Boston, Mass., and are awarded annually to two undergraduates selected on the basis of the awards of the Rhodes Scholarships:

(1) Qualities of manhood, force of character, and leadership.

(2) Literary and scholastic ability and attainments.

(3) Physical vigor, as shown by participation in outdoor sports or in other ways.

"Proficiency and interest in athletic pursuits are essential qualifications for the recipients of these scholarships but exceptional athletic distinction is not considered of equal importance with the other requirements."

Oberlander '26 was captain of football his freshman year and is now playing his third season on the varsity squad, he was a member of the wrestling team his freshman year, has won a letter in track, and is a member of the Green Key, Casque and Gauntlet senior society, and the Alpha Delta Phi fraternity.

Fuqua '27 won his numerals in freshmen football and track, is a member of the Green Key, and the Alpha Delta Phi fraternity.
