Chapel services for the year, according to the new plan by which attendance daily and Sunday is optional, were inaugurated October 3.
The Rev. Roy B. Chamberlin, pastor for the last four years of the White Church, has been appointed chapel director by the College, and will have general supervision of both the daily and Sunday services. The Rev. Mr. Chamberlih is a graduate of Wesleyan College and of the Union Theological Seminary and during the past year he has spent ten months in traveling through Europe, Palestine, Syria, South America and the Panama Canal Zone.
Prominent out-of-town speakers and members of the faculty will conduct the Sunday services frequently during the year and the Music Department will co-operate in laying especial emphasis upon the musical side of the program.
A choir of 50 voices, which will be composed entirely this year of members of the Glee Club, will be under the direction of Prof. Homer P. Whitford of the Music Department and will sing various anthems as well as furnishing soloists for the services. Following the prelude the choir will take part in a processional, another change from the old form of service.
Sunday services will begin at 5 o'clock, and week-day services at 5.30. There will be no services on Saturday afternoons but special musical services will be conducted on Fridays.
