NEW BASIS FOR AWARD OF TRACK "D" IN EFFECT
March 1925

The adoption of a new point method for the award of the varsity track "D" was made by the Athletic Council at a recent meeting, and is now in effect. The purpose of the new ruling is to more fairly apportion the credit received by competitors, both as individuals and as members of relay teams, for placing in the various classes of meets entered during the year.

The new regulation is as follows: "For the award of the varsity track "D" the competitor must have equaled or surpassed an intercollegiate or Dartmouth record; or .during the season have secured five or mere points according to the following schedule: "(a) In events other than relay races points shall be given in accordance with the following table: Places Ist 2nd 3rd 4th Sth Dual Meets S3 1 Trian'r Meets 5 5 3.. I. C. 4A. 5 5 5 5 5

Prior to the opening of the season the council may assign, for any specified dual meet, lesser values than those here indicated.

Points for a meet, other than the I. C. 4A., involving more than three colleges shall be the same as for a triangular meet.

(b) In I. C. 4A. meets five points shall be given for each member of the winning relay team; three points to each member of the relay team taking second place; and one point to each member of the relay team taking third place. In other relay races designated by the council three points shall be given to each member of the winning relay team.

(Meets designated by the council already under this last category are the one-mile relays at the B. A. A. games and the relays at the Cornell-Dartmouth-Harvard triangular meet, held in Boston February 28. Thus the members of the one-mile relay team which defeated Brown at the B. A. A. meet in Boston January 31 are each credited with three points toward their letter.)

(c) In case of a tie the points assigned to the places involved shall be divided equally among those tied:
