ANNUAL MEETING OF THE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION OF CHICAGO, FEBRUARY 18, 1925
May 1925

As a preliminary to the meeting, money was collected covering dues and the banquet. The charge for the banquet was $4.00, and $2.00 for annual dues from members of all classes except 1922, 1923, and 1924. For men about to enter Dartmouth, the charge was $2.50, except for a number who were entirely complimentary. There were a total of 193 men present.

The meeting opened at 7:30 with an invocation by Rev. William F. English 'OB. During the meal, the volunteer orchestra organized by Jack Childs '09 entertained the crowd. The Cornell quartette composed of Messrs. Goodwillie, Pond, Emmert, and Pixley sang a few selections, which were extremely well received.

Immediately after the meal, the tellers distributed the ballots for the election of officers. These were then collected and counted, and an announcement was made later as to the results, which were as follows: president, John R. Childs 'O9; vice-president, Everett T. Marsh '08; secretary-treasurer, Warren D. Bruner '12; executive committee, John C. Redington '00, James D. Vail, Jr. '20. The president then read his report of the happenings during the year.

Following the' president's report, a double quartette of Dartmouth men, consisting of Carl Pfau, Fred Ives, Guy Abbott, Billie Williams, Bert Wheeler, Jimmie Vail, Fred Hamm, and Joe Cheney, rendered a few selections, which were enjoyed by the crowd.

The secretary-treasurer read his report of income and expenses for the year, and also gave a number of other statistics as regards issues of Dartmouth Diddings, members, etc.

A brief talk by President Strong of the Cornell Alumni Association did much to cement the already cordial relations between the two institutions.

Coach Jess Hawley gave an interesting picture of the football situation, and described the system of coaching which was being put into operation.

Harold Pinkham 'l5 was the surprise of the evening, and told of his interesting experiences as a hobo during the years since he left college.

Dean Laycock then gave the speech of the evening, and was forced to continue several times, when he tried to stop because of the lateness of the hour.

On vote of the crowd, two reels of films were shown, one of plays in the games of various colleges and one of the plays figuring in games in which Dartmouth played.

The meeting adjourned at 11:30 after a singing of the Dartmouth song.

WARREN D. BRUNER, Secretary

(Second Letter)

Plans are under way for a big Dartmouth reunion at the time of the Dartmouth-Chicago game, which will take place in Chicago on Saturday, November 14.

While this reunion will not be a Pow-Wow in every sense of the word, it will be a PowWow with the business meetings cut out.

At present, the Chicago Alumni Association is getting its organization together so that everything will be handled efficiently and with the same degree of smoothness which marked their Pow-Wow last year.

With this idea in view, President John R. Childs '09 has appointed Nathaniel E. Leverone '06 as general chairman for this year's PowWow. It will be remembered that Mr. Leverone was general Pow-Wow chairman last year. His experience will fit him as an admirable chairman this year. The other members of the organization which worked so well at that time will be rested up by next fall, and their experience insures a still more effective handling of the many details of such a gathering.

Nothing definite has been decided as to how the distribution of seats will be handled, but this will be taken care of as soon as the number and location of available seats is known.

This game with Chicago will give Dartouth a wonderful opportunity to be put on the map in the Middle West. It will be worth every Dartmouth man's best effort to take in this big event next fall.
