The Dartmouth recently has started an evaluation of the various undergraduate attitudes. In order that the alumni need not be unnecessarily disturbed, we take this opportunity to point out that the present trend of the undergraduate body probably is just another such as takes place within every generation at Dartmouth. The only difference is that, instead of turning the editorial searchlight on the educational policy or athletics, for instance, The Dartmouth has undertaken to try to determine the good and the bad in the present attitude.

The first shell in the campaign was hurled at the whole younger generation, laying a foundation for bringing it down to Dartmouth later, as follows:
