At the Drake Relay Carnival at Des Moines, la., April 24 Dartmouth's entry in the one mile relay race finished fourth in its division, failing to qualify for the final heat. Edgar, spare man on the relay team, entered the 100 yard dash and placed fourth in a blanket finish which was clocked at 9 4-5.

Yale left no doubt of her superiority on track and field in the triangular meet with Pennsylvania and Dartmouth at New Haven May 2. The Elis took seven out of IS possible firsts and a goodly assortment of seconds and thirds for a total of 74¼ points, Penn was second with 46½ points and the Green trailed with credit for only 14¼ points.

Dartmouth's only first was in the high hurdles which Captain Bugbee won in 16 1-5 seconds. The team showed the effects of an unfavorable Hanover spring. :

Harvard 75 Dartmouth 60

Expecting no serious opposition, the Crimson track cohorts came to Hanover May 16 and found Hillman's men 100% stronger than when they had trailed in the indoor triangular meet with Cornell. Three college records fell and two did so at the hands of Dartmouth men.

The event of the afternoon was the 880 in which "Soapy" Watters of Harvard was unable to shake Crawford. The Crimson runner pressed ahead to an early lead and: seemed likely to lead the pack home. Craw- ford, however, accepted the challenge and clung to his rival's heels uintil the straightaway in the last lap. Here he came on to even terms and just as the pair approached the tape, fought his way ahead to win 1 4-5 seconds under the former record.

In the 440 the Harvard men had evidently been instructed to stick to Bates at all costs but he abruptly broke away from them just before reaching the finish line and sprinted across 7 yards ahead of his nearest rival. He was caught in 49 2-5, an improvement of twofifths of a second on the college record.

The third college record to be lowered was that for the 220 and Peck of Harvard earned this distinction although McCall of Dartmouth, who finished second in the final, had beaten the Cambridge flyer in their heat. Peck's time was 21 4-5.

Harvard was leading by three points when the next to the last event, the 220 low hurdles, was called. This proved a clean sweep for the Crimson and when the last event gave Harvard six points, the only question remaining —as to the size of the score—was answered.
