The annual conference of the Association of Alumni Secretaries and Alumni Magazines Associated was held at Ohio State University, Columbus, April 15 to 17. The presiding officer was Mr. T. L. Morrill, alumni secretary of Ohio State University and president of the Association.
Approximately one hundred colleges and universities were represented by one or more delegates. Among the speakers on the subject of alumni relationship with colleges and universities were Dr. Clarence C. Little, president of the University of Michigan, Dr. Harry A. Garfield, president of Williams College, and Professor W. J. Newlin of Amherst College.
The. after-dinner speakers on the subject of the relationship of alumni to athletics included among others E. K. Hall '92 of Dartmouth, Professor Savage of Oberlin, Professor C. W. Kennedy of Princeton, Mr. Wilce of Ohio State, Mr. Bezdek of Pennsylvania State College, and Mr. Romeyn Berry, graduate manager of athletics, Cornell University.
A special feature of the program was a magazine clinic in which two ALUMNI MAGAZINE editors prepared anonymous analyses of the principal alumni magazines, pointing out the virtues and defects of the various publications. There was also an interesting discussion of the cover designs of the various magazines by Mr. Morrill. The first place in excellence of design was awarded to the Technology Review of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the second place to the Harvard Alumni Bulletin.
A paper was also presented at the meeting by E. F. Clark, alumni secretary of Dartmouth, on the subject of "Recording Biographical Data."
