With four meets remaining the Green swimmers currently stand 2-4 for the season, losing the last three meets. In their most recent outing the swimmers lost to Princeton 56-39 in Spaulding Pool as the Tigers swept the first two places in four events.

There were several bright spots, however, for Dartmouth just as there have been in every meet. Jeff Galper broke the 200-yard freestyle record with a time of 1:54.7. In the same meet freestyler Al Davis also smashed the College 500-yard record as he won the event in 5:30.7. In another fine showing against Princeton, Mike Wolland and John Vandervelde took one-two in the diving, while Ron Prior took the 100-yard freestyle in a respectable 51.9.

A week earlier the swimmers lost a "thriller" to Colgate 52-43 in a meet which was decided by the final relay. Colgate's Bill Stueck was the thorn in the side of the Indians as he won both the 100- and 200-yard freestyle and anchored the winning relay team.

The Dartmouth track team is beginning to feel at home in the Leverone Field House. After losing to Manhattan, Yale and Harvard, the Green runners whipped Boston University 81-23. The highlight of this meet was the 600-yard run in which Tom Holzel, the Indians' top middle distanceman, came from behind to beat his opponent by six inches and set a field house record of 1:12.4.

Gerry Ashworth has continued to dominate the sprint picture doing the 50-yard dash in 5.3 on two different occasions, which equals the record already held by Ashworth and set in 1962.

Far from strong in the field events and weak in the longer runs, the Indians have found it rough going against teams with depth in these events such as Yale and Harvard. Pete Wells has been showing improvement in the mile and two mile and is helping to take up some of the slack in these two events.

The track team now has a 2-4 record for the season, with two dual meets remaining, with Army at West Point and Brown at Hanover.

The only winter team sporting a winning record is the wrestling team which is 3-1-1 for the season. Over Winter Carnival it tied Wesleyan 14-14 in a match which saw Doug Miller sustain a rib injury whole competing in the 147-pound division. The Indians had won their first three individual matches, with Andy Alland winning by default, and Denny Eberl and Dick DuPuy on decisions. But Miller was pinned at 8:26 and the visitors began to close the gap in the scoring.

Captain Lee Bateman decisioned his opponent 4-2 at 177 pounds for the only other Dartmouth victory. Wesleyan captured the other heavyweight matches. Bob Reidy represented the Green at 157, Jim Leavitt at 167 and Floyd Moore in the unlimited weight division.

The one loss suffered by the Indians this season was inflicted by Springfield, a team which is rated as probably the best in New England by Coach Whitey Burnham. Victories have been recorded against W.P.I., Tufts and Coast Guard.

The squash team has lost four out of five matches since our last report, with only a 5-4 victory over Penn to show in the win column. The team's season's record is now 4-5. The racquetmen, however, have sustained a serious loss with Hop Potter, their number one player, out for the remainder of the season with an ankle injury. He has been replaced at number one by Bob Kaplan.
