FEWER SOPHOMORES PLEDGED THAN LAST YEAR
NOVEMBER 1927

As a result of the second season of Sophomore pledging brought to a close October 2nd at 1 p. m., 353 members of the Class of 1930 are neophytes in Dartmouth's twenty-six fraternities. Three Juniors were also pledged.

Last year in the first test of second year pledging, 369 Sophomores were pledged as compared to 353 this year.

Contrary to the custom which has prevailed for several years of extending bids at midnight, bidding took place at one o'clock in the afternoon. Bids extended at that time could be accepted at any time up to 8 p. m. that evening, when they became inoperative. Only three Sophomores took advantage of the opportunity to "hold out," and all accepted proferred bids before the hour set for expiration of the offers.
