Report of the Alumni Fund Committee
DECEMBER 1927

For the Committee Mr. G. M. Morris '11 discussed the coming campaign for the Alumni Fund. It was stated that the policy of shortening the time devoted to the campaign which has been noticeable in the last few years would be observed this year as well and the campaign be made more concentrated and intensive than ever before. Plans are under way to hold a "fund clinic" in New York, Boston and Chicago, and it is also the intention to arrange for greater personal contact between the executive secretary of the Fund and the class agents. Mr. E. H. Crane '9B, who has been most helpful in the past in connection with the printing of fund literature, was present at the meeting, as was also Mr. S. C. Hayward '26, executive secretary of the Fund Committee, and samples of the mailing pieces for the coming year were shown to the members of the Council. Mr. Morris' report provoked considerable discussion, the most significant perhaps being that centering around the problem of how gifts of larger amounts could be encouraged without at the same time discouraging smaller givers to the Alumni Fund whose contributions might seem unnecessary if the quota were quickly filled by a few large givers. Following the discussion it was Voted: That the report of the committee be accepted and that the Council express its appreciation of the effectiveness and continuing loyalty of the committee in its work for the Alumni Fund. It was further Voted: That the total goal for the Alumni Fund in 1927-28 campaign be $115,000. It was also Voted: That appointment of class agents to fill vacancies be approved by the Alumni Council as follows: George H. Fletcher '72; Alfred E. Watson '83; and Charles W. Bartlett '27; and, also, that the Fund Committee be empowered to take action in regard to the appointment of other class agents where necessary.

Following the discussion on the Alumni Fund the meeting adjourned for luncheon at the University Club, reassembling at 1:15 p. m.
