CHARLES F. BROOKER BEQUEST AIDS CONNECTICUT BOYS
FEBRUARY, 1927

By the will of the late Charles F. Brooker, of Ansonia, Conn., Chairman of the Board of Directors of the American Brass Cos., Dartmouth College was named as one of six colleges and universities to whom bequests of $50,000 were made.

As Mr. Brooker had no affiliation with Dartmouth the terms of the bequest in which he named the College will undoubtedly be of interest to Dartmouth alumni. The following extract from Mr. Brooker's will, explaining the basis of the request, is therefore printed here:

"THIRTY-SECOND: With full appreciation of the interest which my valued friend Harry B. Thayer of New York has in Dartmouth College at Hanover, New Hampshire, and of his untiring efforts to make it an institution of particular value to young men in moderate circumstances and in recognition of Mr. Thayer's work and with a desire to supplement his efforts in a limited way, I give and bequeath to the TRUSTEES OF DARTMOUTH COLLEGE, at Hanover, New Hampshire, fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) in trust, to be called the "CHARLES F. BROOKER FUND", and to be held, owned, invested and reinvested, and the net annual income therefrom to be used and applied under the direction and in the discretion of the President or other ranking executive of said Dartmouth College, to the payment of the tuition or other fees or charges or living expenses of students of ability, character and moderate means at Dartmouth College in any of its branches or departments or in providing fellowships for such students, preference being given to candidates, if any, of the requisite qualifications who are graduates of the high schools of or residing in or near Torrington or Ansonia, Connecticut."
