THE REV. J. E. JOHNSON '66 GIVES D. O. C. 24 JACKETS
MARCH, 1927

Twenty-four scarlet jackets have been given to the Outing Club by the Reverend John E. Johnson '66 to be worn as official insignia by the Carnival Committee and heelers during the seventeenth annual Carnival.

These jackets are made from Hudson Bay Company blankets, dyed the scarlet of the Canadian Royal Northwest Mounted Police, and have the three-point markings woven into the fabric, signifying that each blanket was worth three prime beaver pelts. The material is virgin long-fibre Australian wool and is wind and weather-proof. A black stripe runs around the bottom and the sleeves and neck are laced with rawhide. These arctic jackets bear on the left chest a D. O. C. monogram.
