APRIL, 1927

In the first Intercollegiate Gymnasium meet of the year the Dartmouth acrobats defeated the Princeton team by a score of 34 to 20, the Green team members accounting for four first places in the six events contested. Sadler, of Dartmouth, who won first place as a performer on the parallel bars and second place for his work on the horizontal bar, was the high scorer of the meet. Williamson and Beling accounted for Princeton's first places, the former winning the rope climb in 4.8 seconds, and the latter taking first honors on the horizontal bar.

The Green gymnasts experienced little difficulty in outscoring the team representing Temple University in Hanover March S, and gained a 40 to 14 decision. Dartmouth won all but one of the first places in the meet with A. C. Bliss '27 who won both the rope climb and the flying rings competition as high scorer. Bliss's time of 4 4-5 seconds for the rope elimb established a new Dartmouth record.

Dartmouth scored another victory at West Point, March 9 when the Army, gymnasium team was defeated 40 to 14. Bliss, Captain Kortlucke and Sadler were high scorers for Dartmouth, the latter winning both the parallel bars and horizontal bar contests.

At Philadelphia, March 10, the Dartmouth team continued its unbroken string of victories and won from the University of Pennsylvania by a score of 34 to 20.

Following the victory over the University of Pennsylvania gymnasium team the Dartmouth men encountered the Navy acrobats at Annapolis and gave the sailors as close a contest as they have experienced in many years. The Navy team, undefeated during the past eleven seasons barely won from the Green by a score of 29 to 25. Sadler, high point winner for Dartmouth, achieved the distinction of being the first performer on the parallel bars to outscore Harnly of the Navy. Sadler scored 8 points during the meet and Bliss, of Dartmouth 6 points.

By defeating the M. I. T. gymnasium team 43 to 11 in Cambridge March 19 the Dartmouth outfit brought another intercollegiate championship to Hanover. Dartmouth's only defeat came at Annapolis and did not figure in the league standing as the Navy team holds only an associate membership in the league. Sadler, of Dartmouth, was again the best individual performer, winning nine points and placing in all three of the events in which he was entered. All of the first places and all but two of the second places were won by Dartmouth performers, and in the tumbling the Hanover men scored a clean sweep, taking all three places.
