At Durham, N. H., February 18 and 19 the Dartmouth winter sports team was defeated by the team representing New Hampshire University by a score of 47 to 34. G. K. Sanborn '28 won first place and W. P. Kimball '29 third place in the ski proficiency event. T. T. Brittan '29 took first place and Sanborn fourth in the down hill ski race, and R. S. Monahan '29 placed fourth in the snowshoe race. Brittan won another point when he finished fourth in the cross country ski race and M. W. Whittemore '28 and R. D. Mooney '27 scored in the ski jumping, the former taking second place and the latter third. Due to poor ice the figure skating was decided at the Boston Arena where W. L. North '27 won first place for Dartmouth. W. Klamroth '30 finished in third place in both the 440-yard and two-mile skating races, and in the latter event A. Ryan '29 accounted for second place and S. I. Harris '27 for fourth.
Dartmouth ski and snowshoe performers again trailed the winter sports men of New Hampshire University in the Intercollegiate meet held in Montreal March 4 and S. New Hampshire scored 32 points, Dartmouth 29, McGill 17, Montreal 5, Bates 3, and Williams 2. Proctor starred in this meet for Dartmouth by winning the ski proficiency contest and taking second place in the ski jump and third in the down-hill ski race. Brittan, of Dartmouth captured second place in the latter event. In the 440-yard skating race Harris, of Dartmouth took first place and Klamroth fourth. Ryan and Quebrnan, of Dartmouth finished in second and third places in the two-mile skating race and North was awarded second place in the fancy skating.
