The sympathy of Ninety-Four men and many others goes to our classmate, Ira G. Colby, and his family, in the shocking death of his daughter. The following is condensed from the Claremont Eagle of April 1 :

"Mrs. Carolyn L. Chellis, aged 24, wife of Dwight F. Chellis and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ira G. Colby of this town, was found dead on the railroad track a half mile north of the Claremont Junction depot this morning. She had been struck and instantly killed by the northbound passenger train which left the Junction at 10.45. A note found in her pocket indicated that Mrs. Chellis, despondent over her long continued ill health and fearing a mental breakdown, had planned to take her own life, and executed that plan by throwing herself in front of the oncoming train as it rounded the curve just south of the bridge. Mrs. Chellis death followed her marriage by but three days. She was a graduate of Stevens High School m the class of 1919 and of Smith College in the class 1923."

Mrs. Chellis' brother, Gordon, is a senior in Dartmouth. Her husband is a son of Rush Chellis, Dartmouth 1883.

Mrs. Helen H. Smalley, wife of Dr. Fred L. Smalley, died March 17 at their home in Reading, Mass.
