George H. Brown, who is teaching in Worcester Polytechnic Institute, has been summering at Mascoma Lake.
Eugene J. Grow, who is general inspector of the medical activities of the Navy Department, has been spending the summer at his home in Lebanon.
Maurice S. Sherman, for several years editor of the Springfield (Mass.) Union, retired from the editorship of that newspaper October 1 to assume a similar position on the staff of the Hartford (Conn.) Courant, taking the post left vacant by the death of the venerable Charles Hopkins Clark. A complimentary dinner was given Mr. Sherman prior to his departure by the citizens of Springfield, at which over two hundred guests were present, including Senator Gillett and other distinguished men.
