College Informs Schools
November 1928

In the belief that secondary schools would welcome news of their graduates who might be attending higher institutions of learning President Hopkins and Dean E. Gordon Bill, director of admissions, have set up an "Information Service." The work of this bureau, operated by the President's Office, is to gather together any available information con- cerning the outstanding accomplishments of Dartmouth undergraduates. This material is then transcribed to a bulletin which is sent to the school attended by the boy who has achieved distinction in any field of curricular or extracurricular activity at Dartmouth.

In the three months of operation of the service last spring more than 300 bulletins were sent to schools in all sections of the country. Accompanying the first bulletin sent to any one school was a letter from the director, S. C. Hayward '26, explaining the purpose of the work. In almost every case the principals of the schools have sent replies expressing their appreciation of the courtesy and helpfulness of the College in providing them with news of their graduates who are now enrolled in Dartmouth.
