The former pupils of Freeman Putney, who for many years was first a teacher in the high school of Gloucester, Mass., and then superintendent of schools, have a pleasant way of keeping him affectionately in mind. To his home in South Weymouth, Mass., at Christmas came messages and tokens from more than two hundred friends. One of these was from one who called herself a "little girl of seventy," who had been a pupil of Mr. Putney fifty-nine years ago. Since his retirement several years ago, he has been living in South Weymouth. At his recent seventy-fifth birthday anniver
sary, the Class Secretary received pleasant messages from classmates, having been their class secretary fifty-four years next June. The biographies of deceased classmates printed during these years in the DARTMOUTH ALUMNI MAGAZINE would, if bound, make a considerable volume.
