At the recent international Christian Endeavor convention, held in Portland, Oregon, Rev. Francis E. Clark, D.D., LL.D., resigned his position as president of the United Society of Christian Endeavor, and as his successor Rev. Daniel A. Poling, D.D., associate pastor of the Marble Collegiate church, Manhattan, was elected. Dr. Clark still retains the presidency of the World's Christian Endeavor Union. A fund of" $100,00 is to be raised, the interest of which will go to Dr. Clark during his life. The first "Young People's Society of Christian Endeavor" was organized by Dr. Clark in the Williston Congregational church of Portland, Me., Dr. Clark's first pastorate after his graduation from Andover Theological Seminary. From that first society, formed February 2, 1881, the movement spread with great rapidity, until today these societies are found in all parts of the world.
