Mrs. Lily (Althaus) Smith, wife of Principal Willis O. Smith of the Keene (N. H.) High School, died March 17 after a week's illness. She was 52 years old, a native of New York city, a graduate of Barnard College, and a musician of fine accomplishment, especially on the violin. She married Mr. Smith in June, 1899, and their home had since been in Lancaster and Keene. For the past seven years she had been secretary in her husband's office at the high school and for five years had taught in the night school. She was an active worker in St. James' Episcopal church and in the Keene Chorus Club. She leaves three children, Dr. Paul A. Smith '2l, instructor in mathematics in Columbia University, Miss Amalie W. Smith, a 'cellist in New York city, and Miss Anna G. Smith, a pianist in Boston.
