POW WOW PLANS
AUGUST, 1928

Fully half the membership of the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Chicago are engaged this summer in activities of preparation for the Second Annual Dartmouth Pow Wow, to be held in the city by the lake on November

23rd and 24th, at the time of the Dartmouth- Northwestern football game.

The first National Pow Wow was held at Chicago in 1925 and at that time was an experiment conducted solely under the auspices of the Chicago alumni. The success of the first great meeting of Dartmouth alumni away from Hanover and without regard for classes was so great that the forthcoming Pow Wow will be held under the auspices of the Alumni Council and Chicago has again been selected as the meeting place because of its central location and the willingness of the Chicago alumni to play host again.

Fortunately the Northwestern game comes just at the time that it was considered desirable to hold another Pow Wow, and to add zest to the program a game was also arranged between the freshmen and Lake Forest Academy at Soldiers Field. The freshman game will be played on Friday, the opening day of the Pow Wow, within a stone's throw of the Stevens Hotel (world's largest), where four entire floors have been reserved for Dartmouth guests. The Northwestern game will be played at the Dyche Stadium in Evanston on the following day and 25,000 seats have been allotted to Dartmouth and guests of Dartmouth. The Pow Wow proper starts on Friday morning. The Alumni Council will hold its regular Fall meeting on Thursday. The Pow Wow program as outlined to date is as follows : FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 23RD 9:00 A.M.—Registration—Stevens Hotel 10:00 A.M. to 1 :00 P.M.—General Session-North Ball Room or Theater 1:00 P.M.—Buffet Luncheon—Stevens Hotel Guests of Chicago 2:30 P.M.—Football: Lake Forest Academy vs Dartmouth Freshmen—Soldiers Field 6:30 P.M.—Alumni Banquet—Grand Ball Room, Stevens Hotel SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 24TH 10:00-11:00 A.M.—General Session (if necessary) Stevens Hotel 2:00 P.M.—Football—Northwestern University vs Dartmouth, Dyche Stadium, Evanston

8:00 P.M.—Dinner Dance—Grand Ball Room, Stevens Hotel The principal speakers at the banquet on Friday night will be President Hopkins, President Walter Dill Scott of Northwestern University, Senator Moses, Professor Leland Griggs and Coach Jesse Hawley.

During the regular Pow Wow sessions all of the college activities in which alumni have a share will be thoroughly covered by speakers representing the college administration and the various alumni organizations. Victor Cutter, President of the Alumni Council, will describe its recent activities in behalf of the College. Dean Bill will describe the work of the alumni in connection with the selective process which received such a great impetus as a of the discussion brought to bear on this subject at the first Pow Wow.

Frederic H. Leggett, Chairman of the Alumni Fund Committee, will report progress during the last few years of that most important of all alumni activities. Malcolm Rollins, Secretary-Manager of the York Dartmouth Club, will speak for that institution which has become a rallying place for Dartmouth men from all parts of the country during the last few years. Films brought from Hanover by Sidney Hayward, will show the vast enlargement and improvement of the College plant during the last few years.

Entertainment throughout the Pow Wow celebration will be provided for the ladies by a committee of Chicago women captained by Mrs. Violet Marsh, wife of Everett Marsh, 'OB, President of the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Chicago.

The Pow Wow idea originated in the mind of Henry Hilton, '9O and to him its greatest fascination lies in the fact that this one alone of all the alumni gatherings succeeds in bringing together Dartmouth men of all times, of all classes, of all places, with only one purpose in view—and that, the promotion of the welfare and the enhancement of the reputation of the College through active cooperation of the alumni with the administrative officers.

Don't forget to put a red ring around those dates on your Autumn calendar—November 23rd and 24th—the date of the Second National Dartmouth Pow Wow.
