Alumni Fund
FEBRUARY 1929

The fifteenth campaign of the Dartmouth Alumni Fund begins March 9. Preliminary plans, under the direction of the Fund committee chairman, F. H. Leggett '98, have been completed and several innovations in the campaign procedure have been made. On January 25 the class agents residing in Boston and vicinity gathered to discuss the forthcoming drive. A similar meeting of the class agents in New York was held January 28. Halsey C. Edgerton, treasurer of the College, was the speaker at each meeting.

Although in previous years Fund subscriptions have first been solicited early in February the committee is this year shortening the campaign by four weeks. Only seven mailing pieces have been prepared instead of nine or ten, as the case has been in the past. The class agents will urge members of their classes to contribute early in the campaign and thus reduce to a minimum the administrative expense of the Fund, as the two innovations cited above are aimed to do.

$130,000 is the 1929 goal. This is an increase of $15,000 over the quota of last year when gifts totalling slightly in excess of $120,000 were made to the College through the Alumni Fund. In5, the 1928 campaign 5,505 alumni made gifts, representing 72% of the graduates of the College. A difficult task lies ahead if the higher goal and a greater percentage of contributors are to be reached.
