Following the Big Green Teams
FEBRUARY 1929 Phil Sherman

The one big noise so far this year in the realm of Green winter sports teams has been BrainyBower's hockey sextet. Annually the Dartmouth hockey team organizes itself in the pre-December weather, moans the lack of ice in Hanover, and then proceeds to take on a back breaking vacation schedule with the best in the country.

There has been no departure from this custom to date, and the efficient managers, accustomed to having everything just right, could do everything in the world for the hockey team except find a little ice. One practice session was held on Occom Pond, and then the bell rang signifying that vacation had begun. The hockey contingent packed their bags, and while students anticipated a few weeks of rest, Bower's crew looked forward to meetings with Yale, McGill, Toronto, and many other teams admittedly the best of their kind.
