The Round Table brought to Hanover Mme. Halide Edib, a Turkish feminist and revolutionary. Mme. Edib has a charming personality, is completely westernized and won her audience in Hanover at the start. In Turkey she stood for the casting aside of the veil, education, monogamy, and world peace in contrast to Mustapha Kemal's nationalism. A woman of tremendous vitality she presented to the Hanover audience an appearance tired by htr lecture tour and the excessive entertainment of her hosts.

Another speaker on the program of the liberal club was V. F. Calverton of Baltimore, Md., author of "The Bankruptcy of Marriage." His theme was the changed position of women in the twentieth century, the prevalent use of birth control methods, and work of other countries such as Russia in liberalizing marriage laws.
