One of my first pleasant responsibilities as Admissions Officer here at Tuck has been to take over the writing of the Tuck School alumni notes. My predecessor, Bob Kimball T'48, moves on to become Assistant Dean of the School. His parting words of "suggestion" were: "I'm three months behind." I guess my job is to catch up. So. off to the news of good men of Tuck.
First, a report on position changes: CalvinOsberg T'46 has been elected treasurer and a member of the board of directors of Ginn and Company; E. A. Hammesfahr T'29 recently became assistant to the president of the National Industrial Conference Board; the North American Reinsurance Corporation has elected Laurence A. Kinney T'29 vice president; Frank Wallace T'31 wrote to say he has taken a position with East Texas Pulp and Paper Company; Allan B. ClowT'31, vice president for the Agricultural and Consumer Products Division of American Cyanamid, has been named an executive vice president and director; Frederick Tetzlaff T'32 was elected a vice president of Rohm & Haas Company.
Dexter Faunce T'60 has recently been promoted to president of Security Planners Associates, Inc., a Boston based investment firm. Besides being a stock and mutual fund brokerage house, this firm underwrites and is investment adviser to the Technical Fund, a mutual fund. Phil Weinseimer T'59 has joined McKinsey & Company, Inc. as of August 2.
Other Tuck graduates have been given boosts in their careers. Fred Piderit T'39 has been appointed vice president in charge of bank supervision and bank relations by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. JimGarvey T'39 was recently named manager of internal auditing for Sylvania Electric Products, Inc. Morris Harwood T'41 is now assistant agency secretary of the Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company. Oscar Mayer & Company has announced the appointment of Henry Mueller T'50 as the new center manager of its Monroeville, Pa., distribution center. David Wakelee T'56 has been appointed to the new post of sales and marketing manager for the Stanley Industrial Hardware Division of the Stanley Works. General Foods announced in April that Pete Aydelott T'64 was transferred to the promotion development group at Post; and Xerox has named Gary McClure T'64 as manager of the firm's Production Finance Analysis Department.
Phil Kron T'61, now a staff accountant at Price Waterhouse, reports that JohnSpring T'61 was co-author of an article in the Spring '65 issue of that firm's Review entitled "Forecasting Financial Results."
In the field of education, Dr. RobertPease T'47 has been elected to head up, as president, the Adult School of Montclair, N. J. Also, Myron Conway T'52 received an MA. in education from Washington University in June; Walter Sonnenberg T'53 has accepted an offer to work for the American Physiological Society, and Roger Aaron T'65 received a Charles Howe Woodbury Law Scholarship for his upcoming studies at Yale Law. Dick Phillips T'61 was awarded a University Fellowship by the University of Pennsylvania for his graduate studies there. Dick Wright T'63 has returned to Hanover as a research associate for Professor Broehl's study on the International Basic Economy Corporation.
Four Tuck alumni have made news in the service of Dartmouth. Ort Hicks T'50 received the "Gold Pick Axe Award" for distinguished service to the class of 1949. BobRooke T'50 represented his alma mater at the inauguration of Dr. Charles H. Watts, president of Bucknell. Walter Miller T'22 and Harry Gilmore T'35 have been named as co-bequest chairman of the Class of '22 and representative to the College Alumni Council, respectively.
