The Tower Room of the Baker Memorial Library becomes more and more the center of the literary interests of the College. There has been a series of talks given there by members of the faculty, on the acquisition of a personal library. From time to time poetry readings have been given by members of the faculty, which have been made especially delightful by the informal atmosphere of the darkened room and the fireplace.

Along with the continuation of the talks on building up a personal library, a new phase has been inaugurated in the form of an exhibit of a book each week which has been in the collection of the library or recently added thereto having some particular interest to the members of the College.

This "book of the week" will not necessarily be a modern but will be particularly interesting either for its rarity, typography, illustrations or content. Harold Rugg, acting librarian, is the chairman of the committee which will choose the book and will place it on exhibit each Monday with the reasons for the choice. The "books of the week" so far exhibited have included Hawthorne's "The Scarlet Letter," Sterne's "A Sentimental Journey," a volume of "The Psalms of David," and "Old Decorative Maps and Charts," by Arthur Humphreys, all beautifully made volumes of limited editions.

In continuation with the series of exhibits of books suggested for personal libraries, there will appear from time to time several displays of books which have to do with contemporary art and literature. Volumes having to do with poetry, painting, the theatre, music and the other branches of art and literature will be placed on exhibition. There has been put on display copies of periodical literature with the object of suggesting the best method of keeping track of contemporary art and literature.

The personal library series will continue indefinitely and next fall those fields of literature which were not dwelt upon this year will be presented.
