CLASS OF 1898
AUGUST 1929 H. Philip Patey

On the 7th of June the Secretary had the pleasure of calling on Ich Crane in Brattleboro, Vt., and having lunch with Mrs. Crane and Mm in their delightful home on Western Ave. I also visited leh's printing establishment, and found him with all the business he can handle. '98 is very fortunate in having a man like Crane on hand to help out in its various printing enterprises, and so is Dartmouth College.

On the 12th of June I had a very pleasant interview with Billie Williams in Milford. Billie is one of the successful lawyers of that enterprising New England town, and spends some very happy days in the fall and winter hunting the fleet-footed deer in Maine. I think in a later issue of the '98 News he may tell us of some of his experiences.

Last evening, June 12, Ey Snow and his wife called on the Patey tribe to bid us bonvoyage. Their oldest daughter, Elizabeth, has just completed her third year in Mount Holyoke, and the second daughter, Margaret, will soon be ready for college. The Snows expect to spend the month of July at their beautiful home in Wellesley, and in August they hope to get away to some mountain lake to freshen up a bit before the tug-of-war commences in the fall.

No matter where one wanders, it is difficult to get out of the range of '98. On this boat on which Mrs. Patey and I are now crossing the Atlantic, there is a gentleman from Columbus, Ohio, a Mr. Cain, who for many years has been prominently connected with the city government. Mr. Cain knows John Eckstorm well, and says he is one of the best known men in Columbus. He says John has recently been appointed the physician for the boxing commission, due to his prominence in and sympathy with athletics. He said when John was coaching Ohio Medical in football they would often defeat the much larger Ohio State, due to the punch John instilled into his team.
