Ah, good old winter again and I would guess some of you are now enjoying the sun—somewhere. For myself, next week off to St. Barts for a week then back to Gasparilla Island (Florida) for another week. And Hanover, after suffering global whatever, now covered by snow and +3 degrees! So much for the climate.Talked to Doug Leigh. He's about to leave for six weeks in Tucson. Still painting and having an exhibit in March. When Doug's name comes up I often think how he came to Dartmouth—following WWII; Battle of the Bulge. He and Ralph Smith and Bob Jones were in some place in England. The two latter talked Doug into coming to Dartmouth, which we're all glad he did. Reached out for Bob. No luck. Ralph, unfortunately, in the hospital but his secretary says nothing serious. Did talk to Tim Hartnett way out on the shores of Lake Superior (Bayfield, Wisconsin). He's given up sailing and long retired (Corning Glass). Stays in touch with Bob Baker and will shortly be in California with him. No, Bud is not living in California. Still in N.Y.C. and, Bud, I called you and left a message with Judith. Did get Ronald "Shipwreck" Kelley out in Indianapolis, Indiana. Finally found out why he moved there: That's his wife's hometown. "Ship" about to undergo some heavy surgery so our best wishes to him. Long talk with Craig Bedle. Still in Connecticut. Shared some war stories with him and talked about mutual friends who attended Columbia High School in New Jersey, including Jack Novascone, who's now in California. Actress Theresa Wright also went to that high school. But of course you knew that. Tried to get Nelson Bryant, Bryan Battey and Dr. Jim boyes Unsuccessful and, Jim, the phone number the College has for you is no longer yours. And Tom Adams finally gave me our Alumni Fund goal for this year. It's $125,000 and lets get it done. With sadness I must report the deaths of classmates Earle K. Angstadt Jr. on January 7; William J. Augello on November 19, 2006; and William C. Staley on December 17,2006.
