Francis M. Banfil in the October 31 issue of the Boston Transcript describes the evident religious devotion of a robin who regularly "bears witness to God's presence," by an attendance at the consecration of the mass at St. Matthew's Episcopal church in Goffstown, N. H., where Banfil is the pastor. He writes that St. Francis of Assisi, the lover of birds, must often be about the church.

In a recent school publication of Cushing Academy there appears what is considered the first Cushing athletic team to be photographed. Included in this 1886 baseball team are two members of '91, J. F. Allison and F. W. Woodcock. In the notes commenting on Woodcock, who left Dartmouth at the end of his sophomore year to enter Brown University, is the following: "At Brown, Woodcock became one of the greatest college pitchers of his time, more than holding his own against Stagg of Yale and Highlands of Harvard. He went to the Pittsburgh club of the National League, where in May, 1892, in his first league game against the Cincinnati Reds, Connie Mack, his catcher, for the first time in league history caught the whole game close up behind the bat. Woodcock won, 11-7."
