President and Mrs. Guy W. Cox, who remained at their Chichester Brook Farm, Pittsfield, until after Columbus Day, are now at the Hotel Somerset, Boston, for the winter.
Mr. and Mrs. Rufus H. Baker are spending the winter at Durham, where their youngest son, John, is a member of the sophomore class in the University of New Hampshire. Last summer they were at their sea coast place at Rockport, Mass.
F. D. McQuestin had the month of October for an autumn vacation, which he divided between friends in Connecticut and at Vassar College.
The Walter Woolson Browns spent some time at Springfield, Vt., whence W. W. came to college, between their summer at Sunapee and their winter in New York.

Mrs. Electa A.. Goss, mother of the late Charles C. Goss, died recently in Pittsfield, N. H., at the age of 85. For some years as the head of the Pittsfield National Bank, she was one of the few women bank presidents in the country.
In its account of District Court proceedings during the Lawrence labor troubles the Associated Press quoted Judge Frederic N. Chandler as saying from the bench: "It is a sad commentary on so-called free America when people cannot work when they want to without being molested."
