Gifts of $40,000 to the Mary Hitchcock Hospital and $20,000 to Dick's House have been received as bequests from the estate of Albert Norton Parlin of Everett, Massachusetts, who died in 1927. The bequests were presented by Frederick E. Jennings of the class of 1900, a trustee of the estate.
The gift to Dick's House brings the total of the Dick's House Memorial Funds to $52,000. The plan known as "Memorial Funds for Dick's House" was developed little more than a year ago by Mr. and Mrs. E. K. Hall, the builders of the House, to assist the boys to whom the expenses of being sick while they are working their way through college presents a very real problem. Under this plan anyone who wishes to do so may establish a fund of any desired amount, the income of which may be used by the College in assisting the boys who are financially unable to meet the charges at Dick Hall's House. The goal which has been set for these funds is SIOO,OOO.
The gift to the hospital will be used to establish free beds for those who cannot pay.
