The William S. Churchill Prize, awarded annually to a generally outstanding member of the freshman class, has been awarded this year to R. H. Michelet 'B4, of Washington, D. C., it has been announced by Prof. C. R. Lingley, acting dean of freshmen, this month.
Michelet achieved a scholastic average of 3.4 during his first semester. He was captain of the freshman football team, and was recently elected president of his class. He prepared at Mercersburg Academy, where he was one of the scholastic leaders of his class and where he also took a prominent part in extra-curriculum activities.
The Churchill Prize, a set of books, is offered through the gift of William A. Churchill, in memory of his son, Willism S. Churchill of the class of 1927. It is presented annually to that member of the freshman class "who, in the judgment of the dean of freshmen, possesses to the greatest degree the qualifications of manliness, uprightness, .firmness and respect for duty."
