In the body of this number of the MAGAZINE you will find an account of the Secretaries Meeting at Hanover, May 1 and 2. I attended, and thoroughly enjoyed the meeting. I do not know as it did the College any particular good, but it did me good. One of the marked changes in college life since our day was exemplified in the baseball game on Saturday afternoon. As you will see, we beat Harvard 2-0. I was not there when the team went on the field, but I was there all through the game to the very finish, and am quite positive that at no time was there more of a cheer than the natural and individual outburst when a good play was made. After the game, everybody rushed for the exits, and there was no celebration during the evening. They take their athletics more rationally now than we did.

You will all be sorry to hear that Eke's son, Edward Junior, was taken very seriously ill while in Florida at the time of the April vacation. As soon as possible, he was brought to Johns Hopkins at Baltimore, in order to discover, if possible, what particular germ was causing the trouble. I heard in Hanover that he was improving, and that Eke was expected back in Hanover on Sunday, the day I left.
