Resolutions
The Association adopted resolutions in connection with the death of Prof. E. J. Bartlett and the 70th anniversary of the graduation of Edward Tuck '62. The Tuck resolution will be found in another item in this section of the MAGAZINE. The Bartlett resolution follows:
RESOLVED: That the General Association of Alumni of Dartmouth College hereby make formal record of their sense of loss through the recent death of Professor Edwin Julius Bartlett of the class of 1872 accomplished scientist, efficient teacher, agreeable annalist of the College and its neighborhood, and, above all, well-beloved friend. Familiar to all Dartmouth men through his sixty years of constant and intimate connection with the College, his going leaves a void, which for those who knew him will never be filled. To his long service as a member of the faculty he had added since his retirement that of the genially reminiscent historian of the College and the town as he had known them, making the past and its people to live again with his inimitable humor and kindly appreciation of men and things. The College fellowship shares this bereavement with his family, to whom it is directed a copy of this resolve be sent.
As the final item of the meeting, Mr. Drake presented the class of 1894 attendance cup to the winner, the class of 1892. Twenty-eight out of 41 living graduates were present for the class reunion.
Victor M. Cutter '03 President-elect of the General Association of Alumni.
Registration Figures The first official figures on this year's registration, released September 27, show a registration of 2286 undergraduates as compared with the figure of 2281 given out at approximately the same time last year, an increase of only 5, which is contrary to the expectation widely expressed that enrollment in the colleges would take a sharp drop this year. The total figure for the four undergraduate classes and the second year classes in the Tuck, Thayer, and Medical Schools, make a total college enrollment of 234.8 as compared with 2375 last year at this time. The tabulation by classes is as follows: seniors 488, juniors 549, sophomores 614, freshmen 635, Tuck School 105, Thayer School 21 and Medical School 38. It should be noted that the total figure of 2348 shown above is reached by making allowances for duplications where members of the graduate schools are also members of the senior class.
