The Lary wedding announcement has brought up the idea that something seems to have happened to the matrimonial business this last summer. The scarcity of announcements is astounding, and a fellow wonders whether it's because everyone is already married or because the Secretary isn't on the mailing list. Anyway, except for Bill and Rufe Munsell the ministers must be up against it for customers. Bill married Mary Esther Caney on October 8, at Norwalk, Conn., and Rufe was married to Mattie Ruth Viets at East Granby, Conn., on August 13. Bill is with the Texas Company at Stamford, Conn., I believe, and according to the Alumni Office Rufe is with the agronomy department at Storrs, Conn.

Via grapevine telegraph we have learned that Makie Makepeace (still at the Chase National) and Anne Franchat were married on August 23 and are living at 41-41 41st St., Sunnyside, L. I.

Bill Ballard, who has been teaching at Hanover, is at Yale this year, getting his Doctor's degree.

Two (2) letters from Treasurer Jack Phelan say he hasn't heard from the bar examiners yet, but is darn glad to finish up at Harvard. Jack's working with Parkman, Coughlin, and Hannan, 82 Devonshire St., Boston, which is apparently the Shawmut Bank Building, as Jack sees Boog Norris and Larry Martin frequently.

Bob Hankins is likewise listening for reports on a bar exam, having graduated with Jack from Harvard Law last June. Bob is working for a law firm in Providence.

As far as we can learn, Harry Bennert is still at the Colorado General Hospital at Denver, but whether he is a student or a full-fledged doctor we do not know. Frank Reynolds is an interne at St. Mary's Hospital, St. Louis, and Bob Byrne is interning at the Cincinnati General Hospital, Cincinnati, Ohio.

As for the professors, Sam Dennis is an instructor at Harvard at Holyoke House, and is living in Sharon, Mass. Had Cantril is likewise an instructor at Harvard, located at Emerson Hall, and Elwood Drake is at Roosevelt High School, Des Moines, lowa. Herb Sensenig is an instructor in German at Hanover.

Cal Billings and Don Giles are still holding down adjoining desks on the premises of the Bankers Trust Company, 16 Wall St., New York city.

Walt Simpson reports that George Bell, who was in this country last spring on his first visit in three years, is now back in China with the Standard Oil Co. When last reported, he was located in Shanghai, and we fervently hope that the fireworks have quieted down in that section so George can get a night's sleep now and then. Our chief reporter, Os Skinner, has brought in the news that Chuck Eastman was married at Cleveland last spring, and that Paul Clarke was married October 8 to Mildred Gundrum at St. Paul's church in Brooklyn. Os likewise mentions that Bob Hassell is now in the comptroller's office at R. H. Macy's.

Bill Hobson is practising law at 15 Broad St., New York city, and is living at 3591 161st St., Flushing, L. I. Jim Hunter is an insurance agent at Rochester, N. Y.

Gene Katz is in the advertising business at 500 Fifth Ave., New York city, and lives at 101 Central Park West. Jack Herpel is still with the New Jersey Bell Telephone Co. at New Brunswick, N. J. Al Fowler still claims to be on the payroll of the Ohio Bell Telephone Co. at 750 Huron Road, Cleveland. Bill McRoberts is at the Farmers National Bank at Vinton, lowa, as a national bank receiver. Although we would like to see Bill in this part of the country, we certainly hope that his business will keep him as far West as possible.

It was certainly startling to learn from Os Skinner that Walt Fischer has recently died of cancer. It seems very hard to believe that he went in that way, especially as we believe he had only recently been married, and quite naturally had everything to hope for. Bud Weser has been very kind in sending further details, which will be printed in another issue of the magazine. We can only add that the class has lost one of its finest members, and that our sorrow is second only to that of Walt's family.

Secretary, Wm. Iselin & Co. 357 Fourth Ave., New York
