Dartmouth legal counsel has advised that I must no longer fuse this or any other Dartmouth publication to make things up about classmates. For example, I am prohibited from reporting that Ike Schurman has fled to the Seychelles to evade a joint IRS/Defense Department investigation into the alleged sale of classified math problem sets to Saddam Hussein, even though that is an excellent story and entirely plausible. It would be acceptable, however, to say that Ike and Nancy Targett Schurman are raising two adorable kids with a third on the way in Columbia, MD. They were recently visited in the same less-than-productive week by Brian Smart and Bill Eisele. Brian is engaged to be married, and Bill, who is married to Stephanie, has three children and lives in Ohio. Dartmouth legal counsel, ever cautious, has also advised that I refrain from "taunting or baiting" other Dartmouth classes, lest a suit be filed under the "eggshell skull" doctrine. The basic premise of the doctrine is that the strong (e.g., class of '84) owe a special duty of care to the weak (e.g., the '82s and '83s). In June we must keep this uppermost in our minds lest our Reunion revelries intimidate our less robust counterparts.

Speaking of robust, '84s are spawning like salmon. Ed Tolley and wife Terry brought Edward Perry Tolley IV into the world on August 9. IV, as I like to call him, was four months old when I got the news and was already a whopping 18 poundssurely a future member of the pear club. Charlie Hoban and wife Liz had a baby boy, and Chris Huff and Heather Keare Huff were expecting number three.

Lori Keith Taylor has a oneyear-old boy and is living in Virginia Beach with husband Kennie. Lori is a radiologist and is looking forward to Reunion, where she will also catch up with her little sister, class of '00, who will be there for sophomore summer.

Paul Hill, a professor of marine geology at Dalhousie University in Canada, came to South Africa in December to help the government with a metals problem in their coastal waters. He was also recently appointed to a very prestigious National Science Foundation committee of experts on coastal processes.

Kaya Kazmirci, currently with an internet service provider in Istanbul, arrived there only after being a Washington consultant, running a courier service, and starting a successful multi-restaurant delivery service. Oh yes, he also served in the Turkish army and got married to wife Evin. Give him an electronic shout at . Kaya reports that Michael Donegan and Jayne DeCubellis Donegan are married, have a son Jack, and are both practicing law in Providence, R.I. Mark Koehler will be posted this year in China with the State Department. His previous tours have taken him to Hong Kong, Nepal, and the White House.

Peter Charbonnier left the practice of law some three years ago to establish a small coffeehouse and grocery store in the lovely town of Essex, Conn.

His bucolic bliss is dampened only by tie "time commitment/dollars earned ratio of a small business, not to mention the constant hassle of trying to get employees to care for $6/hour." If you are passing through Essex on your way to Reunion, stop by for some java. Peter can be reached at .

One special note on Reunion, particularly to my old friends: take a crowbar to your checkbooks and actually register instead of just showing up, okay? Yeesh!

Please note my new contact info below, and keep your notes coming. See you in June!
